An attacker hacked Burger King's Twitter account and openly mocked the company, leaving a series of meaningless and frankly obscene messages and many links to various music videos.
The very first was the message that Burger King was sold McDonald's. This was followed by a change in the account icon to the famous red logo with a gold letter "M". Other bullying followed.
The unknown hacker went on a rampage for at least an hour. But this was quite enough for several tens of thousands of new subscribers to sign up for the Burger King account. There were even suggestions on the Web that the hack was initiated by the company itself. However, such assumptions were eventually dispelled by the hacker himself, when he began to publish racist obscene statements.
Representatives of Burger King declined to comment on the situation. Representatives of McDonald's expressed condolences to competitors and hastened to assure the public that they had nothing to do with this story.
