The beer drinker's light beer (Amstel light)
Beer Amstel began to be produced in 1870, when a brewery opened in Amsterdam on Mauritskade street. The brewery was founded by two entrepreneurs Jonkheer CA De Pester and JH van Marwijk Kooy on June 11, 1870. The brewery soon became the city's largest lager maker, a type of beer that was then only gaining momentum, but today it dominates the market. In 1913 the company was named "The Beiersche Bierbrouwerij de Amstel" — «Баварская пивоварня Амстел». In 1883 Amstel begins to be exported first to England, then to the Dutch colonies. Today Amstel ranks third in Europe and first in the US among imported beers. The largest share of consumption falls on the variety "Amstel Light", invented in 1980. With this sort of concern Heineken entered the low-calorie beer market and continues to dominate this market.
Companies today Amstel no longer exists, it was bought by another major Dutch brewing company Heineken In 1968, at that time, Amstel was the second largest Dutch brewing company. Amstel now it is only a brand, the second most important in the group Heineken, of course, after Heineken. Brand Amstel, like Heineken widely advertised among athletes and fans.
