Without creating any noise around the event, Apple introduced updated models of iPad Pro tablets, as well as MacBook Air and Mac mini.
The update of the MacBook Air and Mac mini is not particularly significant. Laptops received more capacious drives - from 256 GB to 2 TB. A more important update is the installation of a scissor-type keyboard Magic Keyboard, instead of a convenient, but too unreliable "butterfly". Earlier it was reported that this year the company plans to replace the keyboard all their laptops. At the same time, the cost of the base model Air has decreased by $100 and is now $999.
As for the Mac mini, here the update is completely “passing” and affected only the drive, the minimum capacity of which is now 256 GB. It is available at regular price at $799.
But the iPad Pro update can be called a real revolution. The fact is that this is the first tablet of the company that can really fully replace a regular computer. In this direction Apple has been working for quite a long time, in its best traditions, fulfilling its plans gradually, without sharp jerks.
In fact, there are more and more users in the world who prefer the iPad Pro to a laptop. For convenient typing, you can use the dedicated Smart Keyboard Folio or connect a wireless keyboard. But the lack of normal mouse support could become a significant inconvenience.
Now this shortcoming has been eliminated, with the tablet you can purchase a Magic Keyboard with a built-in trackpad. When connected, the tablet is neither technically nor outwardly different from a laptop. The angle of inclination and rise can be changed, which further enhances the similarity. The cost of the keyboard ranges from $299 to $349, depending on the size of the tablet.
But the matter is not limited to this, of course. Among the innovative features, the triple camera with LiDAR sensor should be cancelled. The latter allows the device to determine the placement of objects, which is important for all kinds of applications that work with augmented reality.
Among the unannounced but important improvements is the increased amount of RAM, which is now rumored to be 6 GB for all models, not just the top ones. Plus, the presence of the U1 chip, which is designed to improve the work with proprietary AirDrop technology, designed to share files and data.
But that is not all. The 2020 iPad Pro is based on the 64-bit A12Z Bionic chip, replacing the A12X Bionic. Specifications of the processor were not named, Apple never discloses this information for tablets. But the company said the new iPad Pro is "faster than most PC laptops." The exact speed of the new processor will be known only when the tablet reaches customers, who can run applications for testing. And this will happen on March 25th. In the meantime, everyone can pre-order.
