Apple unveils the second generation of HomePod, a smart wireless speaker that delivers high-quality acoustics in a highly recognizable, minimalist design.
The new version of the HomePod runs on the S7 chip and has improved audio performance and advanced innovative home features. The device's design has not changed much since the release of the first speaker in 2018.
The new HomePod can play "rich, deep bass and stunning treble" and can also analyze a room by reading sound reflections. Spatial audio with real-time sound tuning is possible through Apple Music.
The 2nd HomePod is available to customers in white and a new "midnight" color. The device comprises 100% recycled mesh fabric with a color-matched braided power cable.
The new speaker is already available for pre-order in the Apple Store app. Sales of the device will start in the U.S. on February 3. The device's retail price will be $299 - that's $50 cheaper than the first model.
