Since 2000, a Japanese company has been producing LCD TVs under this brand. Sharp Corporation. Both tiny 13-inch models and giants with diagonals of at least 65 inches are produced. And that's just the production models. So, in 2007 at the exhibition International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, a real 108-inch (270 cm) monster was introduced.
The brand name is derived from the word "Aqua (water)". This liquid is here to the fact that TVs are liquid crystal. Association chain: Aquos - Aqua - Water - Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).

The first models had diagonals of 13, 15 and 20 inches (LC-13C1, LC-15C1 and LC-20C1). They were introduced on December 19, 2000 and cost between US$1,800 and US$5,000. By mid-2006 LCD TVs AQUOS already sold tens of millions of pieces. Several series are now being produced, which differ from each other both in the size of the diagonals and in the technical capabilities. Their design was developed by the famous Japanese designer Toshiyuki Kita, who is most famous for his interiors.
The development of mobile television led to the appearance in 2008 of the Sharp Aquos W64SH mobile phone equipped with a TV tuner. So the brand is now used in this segment as well.
