The new model was developed jointly by the Japanese branch Toyota Motor Corporation and European studio Toyota Europe Design Development (Toyota ED²). The wise decision of the Japanese to look at their culture from the outside (in addition to Japanese design studios, there is also the mentioned Toyota ED² in Nice and CALTY - in California), through the eyes of non-Japanese (the leading designers of the European studio are Russian (Vladimir Pirozhkov), an Englishman, a Frenchman and an Italian) made it possible to translate into Auris, as in other models of the company, the best features of Japanese cars, their individuality. The appearance of the future car was based on the development of Koichi Sugi from Toyota ED², and the interior is based on designs by Takayuki Nakajim from the studio in Toyota Motor City.
Name Auris comes from the name of gold, as a chemical element - Aurum, emphasizing the nobility, value, exclusivity of the image of the car. The distinctive features of the model are called a spacious interior, it is emphasized that this is the highest car in its class, as well as high safety indicators (Toyota Auris recognized as one of the safest cars in Europe)
