Division of a French company BIC, best known for its ballpoint pens, lighters and razors. BIC SPORT engages in various equipment for water sports - surf and windsurf boards (the board is driven by a sail), kayaks, rowing boats and the like.
The company was born in 1979 when Marcel Bich, founder BIC, which, by that time, had already firmly established itself on the world stage, decided to try his hand at a new field. In those years, windsurfing gradually became one of the most popular sports. Yes, and Marcel himself was very fond of him. Perhaps it is thanks to this passion that the unit BIC SPORT and expected success. A company strongly associated with cheap lighters has suddenly become one of the leaders in the production of surfboards. Thus proving that it can produce not only disposable products.

By the end of the 20th century, interest in windsurfing began to wane. To thwart this process, the company began hosting various major sports competitions. Not without success, it should be noted. BIC Longboard Challenge became a very significant event for those in the know.
The company did a lot for the development of kitesurfing (it differs from windsurfing in that a kite is used instead of a sail), proving that this sport is not as dangerous as it was originally thought. Here it is represented by the brand Takoon, under which exclusively kitesurfing equipment is produced.
The head office of the company is located in Brittany, France, very close to the places where windsurfing originated as such. Its products have repeatedly received prestigious awards. By the way, BIC SPORT is the only European manufacturer of windsurf boards.
