The former head of Microsoft ordered Sinot Aqua, the world's first hydrogen-powered superyacht.
The vessel, designed by Sinot Yacht Design, is not only unusual from a technical point of view, but also impressive in appearance. It resembles at the same time a submarine, an armadillo from the past and a spaceship from the future. Interior design will be done taking into account all the wishes of the former Microsoft CEOs with various original design ideas.
The yacht is 112 meters long, has 5 decks and enough space to comfortably accommodate 14 guests and 31 crew members. There was enough space for a gym, a yoga studio and a cascading pool.
But the most important thing is still not in the appearance and comfortable cabins, but in two 1 MW engines running on hydrogen, the “exhaust” of which is ordinary water. They will allow the yacht to cover up to 6000 km on one gas station, which is enough for ocean navigation. The maximum speed can reach 17 knots (approximately 31 km/h).
The freshly cooled hydrogen used as fuel is stored in special 28-ton vacuum-insulated containers. By the way, hydrogen is used here not only for movement, but also for space heating.
However, it is still impossible to call Sinot Aqua completely environmentally friendly. The fact is that there are not so many places in the world where you can refuel with hydrogen. And repairing such equipment can be a daunting task. For this reason, the creators have also provided a conventional diesel engine on board. He will help the ship to get to the nearest port in case of any problems.
Price unique yacht is 622 million dollars. However, Sinot Aqua has not yet been built. The vessel will be launched only in 2024.
