Solana enters the world of physical retail with the opening of its first store.
The retail space is located in the premium shopping center The Shops in Hudson Yards in Manhattan. Its official opening took place on July 28, 2022. The store is dedicated to products related to the Solana cryptocurrency, which is in the top 10 by market value today. Externally, the retail concept from Solana resembles an ordinary retail store, with the difference that here you can pay for goods with cryptocurrency.
The checkout of the supermarket has the inscription “Solana Pay Accepted Here”, and on the windows there is a special NFT gallery with Degenerate Ape Academy monkeys. In addition, the store has an interactive installation that visualizes what is happening on the Solana blockchain in real time, including transactions done and NFTs minted.
There are special booths in the store, allowing customers to get acquainted with leading cryptocurrencies, as well as install a Phantom wallet. There are also gaming stations, an NFT marketplace, applications for games and earnings, as well as a booth with a Solana Web3 mobile phone.
Additionally, a separate area with Solana branded products is presented - customers are offered T-shirts, sweatshirts and accessories with phrases popular in the crypto environment like “not financial advice,” or “WAGMI” (“We are gonna make it”).
The company notes that the main goal of the new pilot project is to attract more clients to the cyberspace and provide primary consulting services to newcomers to the crypto community.
