Company Pentax Ricoh Imaging spoke about her plans for the release of cameras under the brands Pentax и Ricoh. Pretty big changes are expected. In particular, Pentax compact cameras will disappear from sale.
Under this legendary brand (once owned by Hoya Corporation) from now on, only SLR cameras and models without a mirror system, but with interchangeable lenses, will be produced. The release of compact cameras will continue under the Ricoh brand. It is also possible that models with interchangeable lenses will be produced under it. At least today one such already exists - Ricoh GXR.
The reason for this decision is not reported. Perhaps it lies in the fact that Pentax compact cameras cannot be called too popular.
