Burger King has unveiled the first ever organic meat-free burger.
Starting April 1, 2019, The Incredible Whopper went on sale at 59 fast food chain restaurants in and around St. Louis. The new product is marketed under the slogan: “Try it and you won't feel the difference. 100% Whopper, 0% Beef".
The Impossible Whopper is a plant-based protein patty with fresh chopped tomatoes, creamy mayonnaise, ketchup, fresh lettuce, crunchy pickles and chopped white onions on a toasted sesame seed bun.
The Incredible Whopper, officially launched on April 1st, was the first veggie burger in burger menu, which is releasing a new product in conjunction with the American startup Impossible Foods, which specializes in the production of vegetarian meat substitutes. BK said that despite the release date of the new product, the launch of the Impossible Whopper is not an April Fool's joke.
This makes Burger King restaurants in St. Louis the first to serve Impossible Foods' award-winning plant-based "meat," according to an official press release. The company added that if the new whopper receives positive feedback from customers, Burger King will launch a plant-based burger in 7,200 restaurants in the US and other markets. The global network today includes more than 17 thousand establishments in 100 countries around the world.
The company also released a video promoting the new product, in which Burger King customers can't tell the difference between the plant-based patty whopper and the original burger they're used to, noting that it's just as juicy and delicious and made from beef on the 100%.
