Swiss manufacturer of exclusive writing instruments and art supplies. The company's products have repeatedly entered the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive. The origin of the name of this brand is unusual. It is named after the famous French cartoonist Emmanuel Poiré. Born in Moscow, the grandson of a French officer, he knew Russian quite well. So I chose my pseudonym Pencil, writing it in the French manner, and even with a bias towards the aristocracy - Caran d'Ache. Apparently, the work of the cartoonist was so liked by the Swiss Arnold Schweitzer (Arnold Schweitzer), that when founding a company for the production of mechanical pencils, he decided to call it none other than Caran d'Ache. It was in 1924 in Geneva (Geneva, Switzerland), where the company's headquarters are located to this day.
From the first days of production Caran d'Ache belonged to the elite. Often, precious metals and stones were used in its creation. Fine engraving added value. So, the most expensive pen in 2001 was the model Caran d'Ache La Modernista Diamonds, made of pure gold and adorned with 5072 diamonds and 96 rubies. In 1953, the range was expanded with a ballpoint pen. Caran d'Ache Ecridor (Which, by the way, is still in production today.) And in 1970, the first fountain pen also appeared. Caran d'Ache also produces products such as lighters and some types of accessories for men - belts, wallets, pen cases, key chains and cufflinks. But the main direction of activity is precisely elite writing accessories. Of course, the company also sells multi-colored inks for fountain pens. Largely Caran d'Ache is a unique manufacturer of unique things. |
