Carrefour has opened a "clean" cosmetics store in Paris called Sources.
Ingredients transparency is key to the concept - more than 75 controversial ingredients have been eliminated.
The first Sources store has opened in the heart of the trendy Marais district and offers a selection of 170 brands and 3,400 items. A preliminary study was conducted, which resulted in a list of controversial ingredients. So, among them were parabens and aluminum, widely used in cosmetic products.
“After the price, the second criterion for the buyer is the composition of the cosmetic products he buys,” says Pascal Clouzard, director of Carrefour France.
The main content of the store shelves will be organic products. You will also find products from such famous brands as L'Oréal, Maybelline, Petit Marseillais, Nuxe and Filorga. At the same time, young companies like Marlie (100% organic hair care) or Kadalys (banana-based products) are present. In addition, Sources also provides a number of additional services such as hairdressing and beauty salon.
“This is a test in a new market segment. If it works, we will develop the network using a franchise model,” Clouzard said.
The company is currently looking for a location for a second store. Meanwhile, this is not the first experience of its kind. Previously, a similar store called "...Le drugstore parisien" has already been opened by the Casino group and by L'Oréal. Here you can buy cosmetics, medicines, a small assortment of food products that are good for health. Also, visitors can use various services.
