Already by 1930, Chase National Bank became one of the largest banks in the world. In 1955, he absorbed another bank - The Bank of the Manhattan Co., which had existed since 1799. The resulting new structure was named The Chase Manhattan Bank.
The next major merger took place in 2000, when the largest competitor in the face of JP Morgan, resulting in the formation of JP Morgan Chase & Co. in 2004.
