Sony is gearing up to officially unveil its next generation gaming console, the PlayStation 5.
It is expected that during the online event, the system architect of the console Mark Cerny (Mark Cerny) will tell details about the technical characteristics of the novelty and how the company sees the world of computer games in the near future. According to herself Sony, the conference will provide "a deep dive into PS5 system architecture and insight into how the console will shape the future of gaming."
The emergence of information about the technical characteristics of the PlayStation 5 was a long and drawn-out process. Some key details about the console were first revealed in an interview with Wired in April 2019. Then it became known that the console will be equipped with an 8-core AMD Ryzen processor with Zen 2 architecture, built on a 7-nm process technology. The graphics processor based on the AMD Radeon Navi family of some special configuration will be responsible for image processing.
The gaming console is expected to perform miracles of performance. By the way, earlier the characteristics of its new console were revealed by Microsoft. The Xbox Series X is also based on an AMD Zen 2 processor at 3.8GHz, supports resolutions up to 8K, has 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and is equipped with a 1TB NVMe SSD, with the option to install an additional one. It is stated that the performance of the console's GPU is an impressive 12 teraflops. It can be expected that the solution from Sony will demonstrate at least not the worst performance.
