The German company DHL is one of the world leaders in the logistics market. Its range of services includes the delivery of documents, goods, logistics services.
The company was founded in 1969 and was originally engaged in the provision of courier services for the delivery of mail between Honolulu, Hawaii and San Francisco, California. DHL was founded by Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn. From the first letters of their surnames, the name of the company was made.
DHL was the first company to use air transportation, initially the founders of the company themselves collected postal items and flew to their destination by plane. A year later, the number of cities where documents were delivered began to increase, as did the number of customers. A door-to-door courier network began to emerge. And soon the network becomes international - in 1972, offices are opened in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Australia. Over the years, DHL has expanded into new territories and today the company operates in more than 220 countries around the world.
In 2002, DHL was bought by the German postal company Deutsche Post and today is part of the Deutsche Post DHL group of companies.
