The officially adopted logo of the US Space Force immediately evokes associations with Star Trek and Pontiac cars.
The United States Space Force was founded in December 2019. President Donald Trump personally announced the creation of a new branch of the country's armed forces, which will protect US interests in space. And on July 22, 2020, the organization officially unveiled its new logo.
In addition to the logo in the form of the symbol of the Greek letter delta or simply a triangle, the official motto of the Space Force was also made public. They chose the phrase in Latin - Semper Supra ("Always Above") - "Always above".
According to the creators of the logo and motto at the Pentagon, in their work they took into account the heritage and history of the country's Space Forces. The description for the logo indicates that the delta symbol was first used by government organizations of the country back in 1961.
Individual details of the logo are also explained. Thus, the star in the center symbolizes the North Star, indicating the central principles that guide the organization, the silver border of the symbol symbolizes protection from threats from space, the black area inside it recalls the deep blackness of space, and so on.
In January, the President of the United States already posted on his Twitter an image of the US Space Force logo. But later it turned out that the picture is a print, and the logo had not yet been developed at that time. Now that the new organization has been established as a separate branch of the armed forces, it has also introduced its official logo.
Netizens and various publications have already managed to compare the logo shown by the president with the symbol used in the Star Trek series, as well as with an inverted logo. Pontiac. The new symbol of the Cosmic Powers did not escape the same fate and also attracted similar comments, thanks to its classic, if not formulaic, elements that designers have been using for many years to display the idea of conquest of space.
