The Fashion++ artificial intelligence system developed by Facebook will allow even people who are far from the world of fashion to become fashionistas.
To train the system, Facebook developers “fed” thousands of photos of fashionably dressed people to the neural network underlying it. This turned out to be enough for artificial intelligence to turn into a real connoisseur of fashion. Unlike previous works in this direction, the new system will not only show you what you need to wear to look according to the latest fashion trends, but also tell you exactly what you can do with your existing wardrobe.
The developers emphasize that their creation is capable of making adjustments that are more realistic and practical than buying a completely new outfit. So, in some cases, the user may even get advice like “roll up your sleeves” or “tuck in your shirt.” People who have already tried Fashion++ in action found the system's offers not only in line with fashion trends, but also easy to implement.
The company assumes that the artificial intelligence it has developed will eventually help designers create new images. That is, he will take on the creative functions, which until recently were considered an exclusively human prerogative, since they imply a creative process.
This is far from the first Facebook experiments with artificial intelligence. Last month, the company published an article about how it uses Minecraft to train a personal digital assistant that can help with a wide range of tasks.
