Over the past few years, the demand for things made from plant-based materials has grown significantly. Now this trend is coming to the world of sportswear.

New sneakers from Reebok Called the Forever Floatride Grow, they are a continuation of the famous Forever Floatride Energy line of running shoes. The novelty has retained its recognizable design, but is created entirely from plant-based materials. The upper part of the shoe is made of eucalyptus wood and the sole is made of rubber. The midsole was made from castor beans, and for the inside, algae-based foam was used.
The company spent three whole years looking for materials that were not only environmentally friendly and easily biodegradable, but also reliable and as good as traditional plastic solutions. And when work in this direction was just beginning, many doubted the success of the enterprise. There was an opinion that it was simply impossible to create sneakers for runners from plant-based fabrics that would be in no way inferior to synthetic materials.
However, Reebok claims that the new shoes are just as good as the old ones, and the use of plant-based materials makes them not only greener, but also very comfortable. These sneakers are breathable and help eliminate odors.
This is not the first step of the company in this direction. In 2018, she already introduced the Reebok Cotton + Corn sneaker, which has an all-cotton upper and a corn-based sole. The result is a shoe that is great for walking and everyday wear, but not for serious sports. For this reason, the Forever Floatride Grow takes the company to the next level in sustainable footwear.
The new sneakers will not appear on sale soon - not until the fall of 2020. But by 2024, the company intends to completely abandon the use of polyester in the creation of shoes.
