As it became known from some Internet sources, Google plans to leave China soon. The decision will be officially announced next week, most likely on Monday, March 22.
The reasons are called all the same - long-standing grievances of the search engine against the Chinese government. And the long-standing resentment of the Chinese government on Google. It is known that most recently search engine sites were subjected to massive hacker attacks. No investigations have been made on this issue and, apparently, there will not be. There are persistent rumors that the Chinese are deliberately ousting Google from the country and region, as the main competitor of their system - Baidu.
Google has several offices in China, employing about 700 people. It is expected that all of them will be asked to go to work in other countries. According to other rumors Google will simply curtail search activity, but keep representations for research activity.
Whatever it was, but next week we should expect an official statement. It is possible that no one is going anywhere and is not going to leave, but they will simply announce a change in the type of activity or something like that.
