The history of this Slovenian manufacturer of household appliances began in 1950, in the small village of Gorenje, near the town of Velenje (Slovenia). At the beginning, the company staff consisted of only 11 people who were engaged in agricultural mechanization. The production of cooking stoves (then still on solid fuel) began in 1958.
1961 marked the first export sales when 200 cookers were exported to Germany. For a young company, this was a major achievement. Especially against the background of the fact that Germany itself could boast of eminent manufacturers of such equipment. But after a couple of decades, the number of equipment sold abroad will no longer be in the hundreds, but in the thousands - the vast majority of the Gorenje products currently manufactured are intended for export.
Since 1962, the expansion of production begins, the first refrigerators and washing machines appear in the company's assortment. Things went so well that in 1971 the first foreign representative office appeared - in Munich.

Today, the Gorenje group already includes several dozen enterprises that operate in more than 20 countries around the world. The company headquarters is located in Velenje. It is with particular pride that the Gorenje tireless developments are being carried out and new technologies are being created, which are then actively used in production. Manufactured products can be classified as prestigious and very prestigious, when the design is created by well-known single designers (like Ora-Ita) or design companies (like Pininfarina).
In 2006 there was a takeover of the Czech manufacturer of household appliances Mora Moravia. Also Gorenje owns brands such as Sidex, Pacific, Korting, Atag, Etna, Pelgrim, Asko и upo.
