Yesterday, March 13, Microsoft held a press conference dedicated to the certification of the company's software in state organizations of Ukraine. The event was attended by our correspondent.
Representatives of the company said that the level of piracy in the state bodies of the country is 71% (it was also noted that the most popular operating system is already completely outdated Windows XP). According to the most conservative estimates, this means that the total debt to Microsoft is about 100 million US dollars. Representatives of the company noted that work on software certification is underway, but these rates are still not high enough.
Interestingly, while in some institutions this problem has been finally solved, in others there are no computers with licensed software at all. Most of all “violators” are among law enforcement agencies (excluding the SBU and border guards).
It is possible that the reason for holding the conference was a recent bill submitted for consideration to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, on the possibility of switching to open source programs and paying as much attention as possible to the creations of Ukrainian developers.
