American coffee company Green Mountain Coffee Roasters announced the acquisition of the company Van Houtte Inc., its Canadian competitor. The amount of the transaction, which is planned to be completed by the end of this year, according to preliminary reports, will amount to 890 million US dollars.
Firm Van Houtte, like its future owner, is engaged in the production, distribution and sale of coffee and related products. Especially popular, for example, are coffee machines manufactured by the sub-brand Keurigwhich are quite common in numerous offices. Van Houtte Inc. was put up for sale earlier in the year by an investment company Littlejohn & Co. The deal is not expected to affect the value of the companies' shares on the stock market.
