The first model of an electric motorcycle produced under the new brand will be available in July 2021.
Legendary motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson officially announced that it will be engaged in the production of electric motorcycles under the brand name LiveWire. The new trademark got its name from the electric motorcycle model of the same name, presented by the company two years ago and promoted under the slogan “LiveWire is more than a motorcycle”. Interestingly, it has already been suggested on the web that creation of a new brand would be a great solution for the company.
It is stated that LiveWire products will be sold separately from the main ones, exhibiting in their own showrooms, the first of which will open in California in the very near future. The company plans to open similar halls throughout the country and in other markets. Potential buyers will also have access to digital showrooms. The first motorcycle model under the new brand will be presented on July 8 this year, then on the 9th it will take part in the International Motorcycle Show, a very popular exhibition in the USA.
Although LiveWire will be promoted as a separate brand, the traditional and electric motorcycle design teams will work hand in hand "to ensure industry leadership in their respective segments." At the same time, Harley-Davidson has ambitious plans, according to which the new brand should not only take a leading position, but also determine the development of the electric motorcycle market as a whole, developing and promoting new unique technologies.
This is not the first time that a manufacturer associated mainly with internal combustion engines has taken its electric or hybrid solutions under a separate brand. Examples can be given here Toyota, Honda и Hyundaiwho actively promote the Prius, Clarity and Ioniq, respectively.
