Home Depot is the world's largest trading network that sells tools for construction and repair. It serves both the professional segment and DIY (do it yourself - do it yourself). In the company's stores you can find a large selection of various equipment, building materials, electrical appliances, kitchen accessories, decoration items, lighting and more. The company slogan is “You can do it. We can help” (“You can do it. We can help”).
Home Depot was founded in 1978 in Atlanta, Georgia. Its creators were four friends - Benny Marcus, Arthur Blank, Ron Brill and Pat Farra, who wanted not only to sell quality products, but also to set an example for other businessmen of an attentive and respectful attitude towards customers.
The history of the giant company began with a small shop, which rather resembled a warehouse filled with building materials. At that time, it was difficult for the founders of the company to imagine that one day their brainchild would turn into a large network of 2,144 stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico and China.
So, for example, a branch of a trading network in Canada today includes 180 outlets, which employ over 35,000 employees. Home Depot entered Mexico in 2004 and already boasts 97 locations across the country. Two years later, the company also expanded into the Chinese market, where today there are 12 stores.
From 1980 to 2000, Home Depot's revenue doubled every couple of years, making it one of the fastest growing companies in America. In 2007, it earned its highest revenue of $13 billion. And even the subsequent crisis of 2008, the trading network suffered quite easily, even though its sales decreased by 20%.
In addition to its direct activities, Home Depot is also involved in charity work, having created its own foundation - the Home Depot Foundation.
