The new collection will be officially presented during Milan Design Week.
IKEA collaborates with electronic dance group Swedish House Mafia to create a collection of music-inspired furniture and home products.
The collection will include more than twenty pieces of furniture, as well as solutions for the smart home. The official presentation will take place as part of Milan Design Week, and in September the goods will appear in retail stores around the world.
Some products from the upcoming collaboration have already appeared on the Internet. For example, IKEA has re-released the famous Frakta bag in black. The volume has also changed - theoretically, now it can hold up to 100 vinyl records. As part of the collaboration, the headphone case and laptop bag were reimagined, as well as the design of the carrying case for cables and other accessories.
IKEA continues to develop bold new collaborations, although there haven't been many in recent months. So, in particular, the designers of the Swedish manufacturer worked with Daniel Arsham on “flying” watches, created a collection with the late Virgil Abloh, and also released speakers together with Sonos.
This week also revealed that IKEA has launched Dirigera, a new smart home hub that supports Google's Matter standard. The new protocol supports both IKEA and Apple products, as well as electronics from Amazon, Google, Samsung and many Connectivity Standards Alliance companies.
