Furniture giant IKEA is planning to launch its own version of the Symfonisk column.
"Smart" column will be created in close cooperation with the American company Sonosspecializing in audio systems and home theater systems.
"Smart" speakers are becoming a very popular category of goods today. We have our own solutions Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon and some other companies. IKEA also decided to keep up with the trends. The fact that the Swedish company plans to start cooperation with the American manufacturer of audio equipment became known back in 2017. According to the plan, IKEA will build internet-connected speakers that run on Sonos software and are compatible with other Sonos products.
Now the approximate dates have become known. "Smart" column IKEA should appear on sale towards the end of this year. True, the cost of the device has not yet been reported and it is not known how it will look like. But there is a statement that it will be possible to combine the column with IKEA products. Probably, consumers will see not just a separate model of the device, but also a variety of options for its integration into furniture.
Cooperation is mutually beneficial. IKEA has no experience in creating such equipment and is forced to turn to third-party manufacturers. Sonos, on the other hand, gets a chance to get new customers who will subsequently buy equipment directly from the company in order to create a complete audio system for the whole house.
