In the ranking of the best-selling smartphones, models from Apple took the first two lines, noticeably ahead of solutions from competitors.
In total, Apple sold 46.3 million iPhone XR and 37.3 million iPhone 11 in 2019, according to Omdia, the second-ranked model. For the fifth year in a row, the company regularly occupies the first two lines of the rating. In third place was Samsung's Galaxy A10, with sales of 30.3 million units.
The iPhone XR was introduced back in 2018. After the introduction of the iPhone 11 in 2019, the previous model remained on sale at a reduced cost. The main advantages of the iPhone 11 over its predecessor are a significantly improved camera system and a newer processor. For users who are not particularly fond of photography and do not play games, these advantages are not fundamental. So it's not surprising that they prefer to go with the tried and true iPhone XR.
Despite being in the lead, overall shipments of Apple smartphones in 2019 were down 4.6% compared to 2018. Analysts attribute this to a slightly increased cost of devices. The maximum price for a fully loaded flagship has increased significantly, from $970 for the iPhone 7 Plus to $1450 for the 11 Pro Max, an increase of $$480. However, this did not prevent the company from taking the first two places anyway, and by a significant margin.
In general, if you look at the list of the best-selling smartphones, it becomes clear that the market leaders are companies Apple и Samsung. Their devices took 9 places out of 10. The situation is slightly diluted by the Redmi Note 7 model from Xiaomi, which was sold in the amount of 16.4 million pieces. Last year, the only company that managed to get into the Top 10, displacing the giants of the market, was Huawei.
