BBC News reports on the investigation: the history of the popular English fashion brand was closely examined by the experts of the news service Hollister (owned Abercrombie & Fitch group ).
It turned out that the history of the brand, or, more precisely, the set of facts that the company called history, is actually fictional.
So, as the year of foundation, 1922 was called, while in fact the company was created in 2000. The founder of the company is called John Hollister, a man with such a romantic biography that it could not help but suggest a fake.
Representatives Hollister refused to comment on the statement of journalists BBC , although they did not do anything illegal, and the fact of falsifying the history of the brand in itself is no longer able to surprise anyone. Most brands present their rather ordinary stories to the public in the form of romantic epics, and buyers, in turn, have little interest in historical facts and are used to not trusting PR stories.
