JOOP! is a German manufacturer of clothing and accessories for men and women, the company also produces perfumes and personal care products under its own brand.
The brand got its name from the name of its creator, the German designer Wolfgang Joop (by the way, his surname is also a common name in the Netherlands). He created his company in 1981, by which time Jupe was already quite famous as a designer and as a fashion journalist. A few years earlier, in 1978, his collection of furs brought the designer worldwide fame and outlined the general style direction of the future brand. JOOP!
Under the new brand, collections of men's and women's clothing, as well as a series of fragrances were presented. A bright, energetic and somewhat provocative brand, which was emphasized by the spelling of the name with an exclamation point in capital letters, soon became famous, clothing, shoes, jewelry, sunglasses and, of course, perfumery were produced under it. Later, starting from 1999, under the brand name JOOP! decor items began to be produced.
1998 Jupe sells 95% of his shares JOOP! GmbH companies Wünsche AG. To date, the designer has nothing to do with the brand; in 2001, he sold the remainder of his shares in the company and left her only his name.
The company's headquarters, as well as its design studio, are located in Hamburg, Germany.
