The new brand will be called 818 Tequila and has already won several prestigious competitions for its exquisite taste.
Famous model and reality show participant Kendall Jenner has announced on her Instagram the launch of her own brand of tequila - 818 Tequila. The name, presumably, was chosen in honor of the zip code of the Californian city of Calabasas, where the model grew up.
The 818 line will feature different varieties of tequila, for every taste and preference. Kendall said that she spent almost four years creating the best taste of the drink, taking part in blind tastings, learning about the intricacies, as well as visiting the production. So far, the new tequila is not yet available to ordinary customers, but the celebrity herself promises that it will be on sale very soon.
An interesting marketing ploy to promote the new brand was its anonymous participation in the World Tequila Awards. The brand was introduced to participate in the tasting without the name Kendall Jenner, the participant's side was named simply K & Soda. However, one of the 818 strains managed to win the 2020 World's Best Reposado title. The judges described the variety as having a sweet and smoky base with hints of oak, vanilla and a sweet aftertaste reminiscent of cinnamon ice cream, while the "earthy" flavor was described as referring to nut cake, sweet potato and caramel.
The 818 brand already has other awards in its portfolio. At the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, the strains in the line have received The Chairman's Trophy and Top 100 Spirits, platinum and two gold awards at the 2020 SIP Awards show jumping, and three gold awards at the MicroLiquor Spirit Awards.
Kendall is not the first celebrity to introduce her own brand of spirits, before her George Clooney (who sold his Casamigos tequila brand for a billion dollars in 2017), Ryan Reynolds, Kate Hudson and a number of others have already done it.
