Brand focuses on 9 products "at the intersection of sublime simplicity and innovative science."
American socialite, model, media personality and businesswoman Kim Kardashian is taking her first steps in the haute beauty industry. A new brand, SKKN by Kim, is entering the market. According to the concept, the brand focuses on skincare from 9 products "at the intersection of sublime simplicity and innovative science."
Kim announced on her social media accounts that the new SKKN-branded line will be available for purchase on the official website beginning June 21. More than 100,000 people signed up for the brand's Instagram account within 24 hours.
Kardashian has previously tried her hand at the beauty market, launching the brands KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance. But they were not in demand and the project was put on hold. With the new brand, Kim hopes to enter a higher price segment, which is more in line with her desire for prestige.
Prices for the collection are akin to Goop's affordable lines, but above average. It will be interesting to see what proportion of Kardashian's 300 million subscribers will buy the new products. The New York Times says that cosmetics prices around $100 per product will obviously be too high for most of her fans.
