After answering three questions, the user will have access to personalized boards with "holiday" interior items.
American division Swedish retailer invites everyone to participate in an unusual interactive quiz. By answering three questions that the chatbot asks, the user will receive a Pinterest board specially created for their interests and needs. And the main theme of the images on the board will be all sorts of ideas and product recommendations that are designed to transform an ordinary house or apartment (or at least a small corner of it) into a space that reminds of vacation and evokes the feeling of a summer vacation.
The quiz was called "IKEA Renocations", where the word Renocations is made up of Renovation ("renovation", "repair") and Vacation ("vacation"). In its course, the user will have to answer questions like: "If you could be anywhere in the real world, where would you be?" or “Is there a room in your house where you also feel free and relaxed?”. As a result of processing the answers, a board is formed with suggestions that will inspire you to recreate the atmosphere of a beach house on a balcony or a green corner in a park with a cozy bench right in the living room.
The vacation quiz was another step in bringing IKEA and Pinterest closer together and an example of how social media, with its multi-million audience, was used to promote products. This format of interaction was not chosen by chance, because due to the pandemic, quarantine restrictions and the inability to go on vacation, many buyers prefer to direct their efforts to renovate and update their own home. And ideas for this are often scooped from Pinterest boards. According to market research company GfK, 89% users go to the platform to browse the variety of designs and products on offer, and get inspiration before making a purchase.
