The new set will go on sale April 1 at $80.
LEGO is again partnering with Marvel Studios to announce a Star Lord helmet before the release of Guardians of the Galaxy. The long-awaited film is scheduled for release on May 5.

The LEGO designer's new creation is another example of a successful film collaboration after creating helmets for Clone Commander Cody and Boba Fett for Star Wars.
As part of a collaboration with Marvel, the Danish company is releasing an expanding helmet, just like the one worn by Peter Quill. It has bright red bug eyes and a built-in gas mask in silver and gold.

A replica of the helmet, one of the defining elements of the character's outfit, is 7 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide and 5 inches deep. The set includes 602 pieces for assembly and a stand with a branded plaque. Official sales of the new kit will begin on April 1, with pre-orders already open on the LEGO website. The retail price is $80.
