The manufacturer combines a luxurious experience with an emission-free ride in electric drive mode.
Mercedes-Maybach has officially unveiled its first plug-in hybrid. The model, dubbed the S 680 e, was created as part of the brand's strategy to electrify its portfolio.
"With our first plug-in hybrid model, we combine the luxury experience typical of Maybach with an emission-free ride in electric drive mode," the company commented.
The new model is powered by a six-cylinder engine with 367 hp. The combined power plant delivers 510 hp. Acceleration time to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) is 5.1 seconds. The battery is fully charged in 30 minutes.

"MercedesMaybach has been regarded as the benchmark for automotive luxury and style since Wilhelm and Karl Maybach began building automobiles in 1921. Now, the brand launches its first plug-in hybrid model. This marks the beginning of a new era," the press release noted.
Production of the new Mercedes-Maybach S 680 e will start in China, followed by Thailand, Europe and other regions. The first all-electric Maybach will be presented by the end of 2023.
