A well-known American brand that has earned recognition among connoisseurs of outdoor activities, walking and, of course, tourism.
History of the Merrell brand
It all started in 1981, when three residents of the small town of Waitsfield in the US state Vermont founded an enterprise for the production of popular cowboy-style boots. The names of the founders were Randy Merrell, John Schweitzer and Clark Mathis, and the company was named after the first of them. The products of the new company were fundamentally different from numerous factory analogues: they were made exclusively to order, each pair was sewn by hand within six months and cost at least $500. Such an approach to business and the consistently high quality of footwear ensured success for the company - the brand quickly became popular and began to develop very actively.
However, Merrell's independent existence lasted only 6 years - in 1987 the company was bought by the Montreal corporation Karhu, specializing in ski and hockey equipment with accessories. Three years later, by 1990, shoe production increased many times over. Several hundred thousand pairs were produced annually, and sales offices appeared in European countries.

In 1997, another change of ownership took place - the Merrell brand was bought out by the WWW Corporation (USA), which already owned several well-known shoe brands by that time. Among them are Hush Puppies, Sebago, Hytest Safety Footwear and others. In addition, Wolverine World Wide manufactures shoes under license under the brands Harley-Davidson, Caterpillar и Patagonia Footwear.
Merrell brand today
The company's headquarters is located in Rockford, Michigan (USA). Brand stores are open in 130 countries of the world, and shoes of this brand are in constant high demand. It can only compete with Geox products and Timberland.
The secret of the brand's success is the combination of consistently high quality with diversity, as well as the constant expansion of the range. Several particularly popular ranges of boots for hiking and outdoor activities have been released, featuring unique construction and design solutions. For example, the famous World series with the image of the world map on the sole. Since 2007, under the Merrell brand, sportswear has also been produced.
Due to their high quality, the brand's products have been mentioned in leading specialized publications (Footwear Plus, for example) for many years in a row and receive prestigious awards.
