It is a Dutch fashion brand. Its creator is a businessman Rattan Chadha, an Indian by origin.
Initially, Rattan was engaged in importing clothes to the Netherlands from the countries of the East, mainly from India. But the soul wanted more. And in 1980, he founded two "fashion" brands: Mustache, under which men's clothing was sold and emanuelle - women's clothing. The reference point was taken to the youth audience. And everything turned out quite successfully.
In the future, the businessman decided to combine the two brands into one. And so it appeared Mexx. Its name is composite - the first two letters are taken from the names of previous brands, and the two letters "x" symbolize kisses - "kiss kiss". Quite confused, but original and memorable.
Apparently, the products created under the brand were really attractive, since Mexx managed not only to quickly unwind in the Dutch market, but also to establish itself well in the global market.
In 2001, Rattan sold his brand to the company Liz Claiborne and got out of business. The transaction amounted to 264 million US dollars.
