With the development of mobile communications, the need for fixed telephones and, especially, telephone booths is no longer necessary. That's just where then these same booths to go? The original solution was found by the Austrian telecommunications company Telekom Austria.
The company decided to use the phone booths as "filling stations" for electric vehicles. True, to date, there are only 223 electric vehicles and 3559 hybrid vehicles in the country. But their number is steadily growing. It is expected that by 2020 there will be 405,000 of them. At least that's what the Austrian Automobile Organization has come up with. VOeC.
In total, 13,500 telephone booths are scattered throughout Austria. This will create an extensive network of recharging stations. This process will take place at a slow pace. Externally, converted booths will not differ much from ordinary ones. They will simply add ordinary plug sockets, and a special luminous badge will be attached to the roof. You can pay for the service using your mobile phone.
