The Russian analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" has presented a rating of the best-selling cars of foreign brands in the Russian Federation.
In the first half of 2019, sales of foreign cars on the Russian market decreased by a total of 4% - a total of 611,800 cars were sold.
The sales leader among foreign brand cars was the small class Kia Rio, sold in six months in the amount of 47,700 units. The fall in demand for the most popular foreign car for the year amounted to 8%. At the same time, demand for the Hyundai Creta crossover increased by 4% over the year, to 34,600 vehicles. The top three was closed by Hyundai Solaris, which lost 9% sales, up to 30,700 units.
Next in the ranking of the best-selling foreign cars were Volkswagen Polo (+3%), Renault Duster (-12%) and Skoda Rapid, whose sales remained at the level of the previous year. Rounding out the top ten were Renault Logan (+2%), Toyota Camry (+18%), as well as crossovers Volkswagen Tiguan (+5%) and Kia Sportage, whose sales decreased by 6%.
In total, the share of foreign cars in the Russian market over the past year decreased by 0.9%. Among the leaders, Ford and Nissan lost the most in sales over the past year. Earlier it was reported that according to the results of 2018, in the list of the best-selling cars in Russia, the first ten lines are occupied by models produced at domestic production facilities. At the same time, the share of foreign brands in the Russian market, according to the data for the first half of 2019, is estimated at 73.9%.
