The decision was made "out of respect for all those affected by the tragic events."
Nike has decided to temporarily discontinue the release of the new Max 1 x Cactus Jack, a collaboration with musician Travis Scott. The official statement about the postponement of the release date of the sneakers was made after the media reported that the number of victims at the Astroworld Nike festival had increased to ten.
The Nike press service noted that the decision to postpone the release of the new model was made "out of respect for all those affected by the tragic events." The Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack was originally scheduled to release on December 16, 2021. Travis Scott's concert, with the participation of 50 thousand spectators, took place on November 5 in Houston as part of the Astroworld music festival in NRG park.
“Out of respect for all those affected by the tragic events at the Astroworld festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 X Cactus Jack,” the company’s press office commented.
Earlier it became known that after a deadly crush during Scott's performance, Sony broke off relations with the musician, removing a commercial for the PlayStation 5 specially created as part of the partnership. In addition, the musician's track was cut from the Fortnite game. It was reported last week that the Houston Rockets had canceled a planned T-shirt giveaway to Scott fans. According to some reports, the release of the joint collection of Travis with Dior may also be cancelled.
An estimated release date for the new sneaker created by Scott and Nike designers has yet to be announced. At the same time, their first joint creation, sneakers based on the iconic Air Jordan 1 model, continues to be sold on multi-brand sites in the network at a price of more than 170 thousand rubles.
