Sony has unveiled a new brand, PlayStation Studios, designed to bring together the company's game studios.
The new brand was created with the goal of distinguishing between in-house and third-party studios. It will be shown in cases where the game was created - entirely or with the participation - of its own game studios Sony. The company will also apply this branding to games from external developers that it controls.
The brand's logo has already been shown, which will be placed on box art and promotional materials, as well as a splash screen designed to be shown at the launch of exclusive games. Very similar to the intro from Marvel Studios, the featured video shows footage from games like Uncharted, God of War, and The Last of Us. Most likely, other characters will be used in the future, while maintaining the general concept.
Head of Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment Eric Lempel said that all this is the best way to show the consumer that he bought the game of the highest quality, it is exclusive. The brand will be distributed both to games that have already become popular, and to future games that are still in development. It will be officially presented during launch Play Station 5.
By the way, Sony also officially announced that no pandemics will prevent it from introducing a new version of the game console at the end of 2020, during the holiday season. And although the company's employees work remotely and they do not have the opportunity to make business trips, this did not cause difficulties with the development and establishment of production. In theory, there should not be any difficulties with the creation of exclusive games, to run them simultaneously with the console.
Most likely, the creation of PlayStation Studios was a response to Microsoft's previously introduced Xbox Game Studios brand, also intended to bring together games from internal developers.
