Polestar has unveiled its first electric car, dubbed the Polestar 2. The very first model of the brand was a hybrid, but now the word is for a fully electric solution designed for series production.
The brand is owned by the Swedish automaker Volvo and the Chinese Zhejiang Geely Holding. But it was decided to separate Polestar into a separate company. At the same time, the cars she creates have a design in which elements of models from Volvo clearly appear.
The Polestar 2 has two electric motors with a power of 300 kW, driven by a battery with a capacity of 78 kWh. The power reserve on one charge is enough to drive 500 km. To accelerate to 100 km / h, 5 seconds are enough. One of the highlights of the Polestar 2 is that it is one of the first production vehicles to feature Android Automotive, which will bring Google services to the driver. All necessary information is displayed on the 11-inch touch screen.
The car will be assembled in China. Sales should start in 2020. At the same time, only a special modification of Launch will be available initially, costing 59,900 euros, which can be pre-ordered in the near future. But in the end, the production version of the car will go on sale at a price of 39,900 euros. The manufacturer itself positions the Polestar 2 as a direct competitor Tesla Model 3.
And the company plans to also introduce the Polestar 3 model, this time it will be an SUV.
