Porsche has officially unveiled new sports cars - the 718 Cayman GT4 coupe and the 718 Spyder convertible.
The main feature of the novelties lies in the engine - while the regular versions of these sports cars come with 40-cylinder engines, the novelties boast a specially modified 6-cylinder engine from the 911 Carrera.
420 hp engine allows new products to overcome the milestone of 300 km / h, unattainable for models of the 718-series. It is stated that the maximum speed of the Cayman GT4 is 304 km / h, while the “ceiling” of the Spyder is 301 km / h. As for the acceleration time to 100 km / h, it is 4.4 s, which is far from a record for the cars of the legendary German automaker.
The presence of an adaptive cylinder shutdown system allows you to interrupt the injection in one of the rows of cylinders, which makes it possible to save fuel at low loads. Both new items come with a 6-speed manual transmission. Separately, it should also be noted improved aerodynamics, which increased downforce. At the same time, the Spyder has a spoiler that automatically rises at speeds above 120 km / h, and the Cayman is equipped with a fairly large wing. Both models received 20-inch lightweight wheels, Michelin tires Pilot Sport Cup 2 and PASM adaptive dampers.
On sale Porsche news should appear in the spring of 2020, but you can place an order now. For the base model Cayman, you will need to pay about 97.5 thousand dollars, while asking for 100.4 thousand for the Spyder. The choice of additional options for consumers will be relatively small. According to some reports, only Cayman will be presented on the Russian market.
