After four years of testing, Porsche has officially unveiled its first all-electric car.
The world premiere of the Taycan model took place simultaneously in Germany, China and Canada - in three key markets for the automobile concern. The official release of Porsche's first electric car will take place next week in Frankfurt.
“The Taycan links our heritage to the future. It advances the success story of our brand, which has delighted people all over the world for more than 70 years,” commented Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Management Board of Porsche AG, who opened the world premiere of the electric car in Berlin. According to him, this day "marks the beginning of a new era."
The company said that serial production of the Taycan will start at the end of 2019 in the suburbs of Stuttgart, where Porsche is headquartered. The first deliveries of the electric car to customers will begin in early 2020. The group is currently accepting applications. It is known that the car will be produced in two versions - Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo. In the German market, their cost will be 185 and 152 thousand euros, Turbo S will be delivered to Russia at a price of 12.64 million rubles, Turbo - for 10.64 million rubles.
The new model is based on the Porsche Mission E concept, first presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in 2015. According to official figures, the range for the Turbo S modification will be 412 km, and the Taycan Turbo will be able to travel 450 km in one cycle without recharging. Both versions will have a fast charging function from a special DC station, which will allow them to receive the necessary charge for a run of 100 km in 5 minutes. However, charging time from 5% to 80% will be 22.5 minutes.
The Porsche Taycan is equipped with a two-speed transmission: the first provides acceleration from a standstill, and the second provides extra power at high speeds. The electric car has a fully digital dashboard and an 11-inch center monitor with infotainment content. The volume of the front trunk of the electric sedan is 82 liters, the rear holds 366 liters. With the Taycan, Porsche is offering customers completely leather-free interiors for the first time, with interiors made from innovative recycled materials that underscore the sustainable concept of an electric sports car.
The Taycan is equipped with adaptive air suspension with electronic damping control. Under normal conditions, the electric vehicle makes about 90% braking by the electric motor without applying the brakes. The maximum power of the flagship Turbo S Taycan is up to 560 kW (761 hp), the Taycan Turbo is up to 500 kW (680 hp). The Turbo S accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and the Taycan Turbo in 3.2 seconds. At the same time, the maximum speed of both all-wheel drive models is 260 km / h.
Porsche plans to invest in the development of technologies for the creation of electric vehicles about 6 billion euros by 2022. The concern plans to release less powerful versions of the Taycan electric sedan, as well as the creation of a serial hatchback station wagon Taycan Cross Turismo.
