Popular among young people, social networks have received a serious competitor in the face of a new service for posting short videos.

The Byte Platform, introduced by Byte Inc., has already been launched for use on mobile devices. Byte allows you to upload videos that are six seconds long. Video can be taken directly from the application and immediately published, there is also an option to publish previously filmed materials. The app is available for free download on the App Store and Google Play.
This social media network is the successor of the idea proposed by the Vine application, which gained worldwide popularity due to the unique concept of posting very short videos, which gave scope for creative expression of users. The existence of the service was terminated in 2017 due to financial difficulties for Twitter — its parent company. It was on the nostalgia of many users for Vine that the creators of Byte decided to play.
At the moment, user profiles and view counts are hidden, but Byte's creators plan to make such information public later on and allow content creators to monetize their popularity.
The app is currently available in over 40 countries, including the US, Canada, parts of Europe, Russia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan. But users in China, home of the popular app TikTok, Byte is not yet available. One reason for this is the country's strict rules on social media. In the future, the list of countries whose users will be able to join Byte will expand.
