The development is carried out jointly with the Russian company 3D Bioprinting Solutions, which specializes in 3D bioprinting.

As part of the "restaurant of the future" concept, the American chain KFC focused its efforts on creating the world's first fake-meat chicken nuggets. Thanks to bioprinting technology, it is planned to create pieces of chicken meat using chicken cells, as well as additional plant materials.
The technological part of the process was taken over by the Russian laboratory engaged in technical research, 3D Bioprinting Solutions. The company will print chicken meat on its own 3D bioprinters, and KFC will provide all the necessary spices and breading to obtain a product that will most closely resemble the taste of a classic restaurant chain dish.
The first tests of the finished product will take place in the fall of 2020 in Moscow, but it has not yet been announced when the artificial nuggets will be on the restaurant menu. The first faux chicken nuggets are expected to be popular with customers because, while maintaining a familiar taste, they will be more environmentally friendly than traditional poultry farming methods, help maintain high standards of social responsibility and care for animals. Against the backdrop of growing demand for artificial meat, the new product, as its creators suggest, will be highly appreciated by consumers, especially the younger generation.
However, it is emphasized that the new nuggets will not be classified as vegetarian products, since animal products are used in their production.
