Linksys has introduced Linksys Aware, a service that will allow users to use the company's latest routers for home monitoring.

Without going into technical details, we can say that a feature of mesh (Mesh) routers is the ability to distribute Wi-Fi from different points at the same time, covering large spaces. To do this, a system of several devices is installed in the room.
This is an excellent solution for large rooms, where "dead zones" are inevitable when using one, even if a very powerful router. The use of repeaters means complex settings and delays when switching between devices. All components of the Mesh system transmit the same signal, there can be no delays. The only drawback of such solutions is their high cost.
And Mesh systems can also be used to ensure the security of the premises (it should be noted that the idea of using Wi-Fi for motion detection is not new). Linksys does not reveal the details of the technology, but the main idea of Linksys Aware is that the components of the system actively interact with each other. And it is not difficult to track when the object that interferes with this interaction is moving.
This is what Linksys Aware will do. All that is required from the user is to install a special mobile application for iOS or Android and make a simple setup. As soon as the system detects movement, it will immediately send a message to the owner. It is possible to evaluate indoor activity and view statistics that are stored for 60 days.
The main advantage of this approach is that there is no need to install additional sensors. Linksys Aware can be used not only at home, but also in retail and office spaces. For example, a restaurant or retail outlet owner can not only provide their customers with high-quality Wi-Fi coverage, but also immediately get an easy-to-use tracking system that does not require additional expenses to deploy. In doing so, it is possible to analyze, for example, the most active hours of visits.
The service will be available by subscription. The company offers a free trial period of 90 days, after which you will need to pay $24.99 monthly. Linksys Aware users can start using Linksys Velop Tri-Band AC2200 routers today. Support for other models will be coming soon.
