According to a study conducted by the company McKinsey, then the Russian luxury market is one of the most unusual. The fact is that it is dominated by all kinds of alcohol brands.
To be more precise, alcohol makes up almost 45 percent. We are talking about drinks costing more than $ 70 per bottle. Second place was taken by clothing, which accounts for 36 percent. As for jewelry and watches, they occupy only 3 percent. At the same time, in most countries of the world, things are exactly the opposite.
The reason for the latter, according to researchers, is that the cost of the same watch in Russia is significantly higher than abroad (sometimes by almost 30 percent). For this reason, Russians make such purchases in other countries.
It was also noted that over the past year, the luxury market in Russia has increased by 17 percent and amounted to $5.3 billion.
