According to research conducted by the company RJ Metrics, the registration of new users in social networks has slowed down significantly. And in general, despite the beautiful numbers in which the number of users is measured, everything is not so smooth.
For example, the mega-popular Twitter acquired over the past month 6.2 million new users. This is almost 20% less than six months ago. But the problem is not only that the wave of newcomers is subsiding. The fact is that only 17 percent of those registered are socially active. More than 40 percent signed up, wrote a single message, and never came back. The rest show extremely moderate activity - at best, 10 messages over a very long period.
A similar picture is observed in other social networks. The vast majority of users register, write a few messages and safely forget about the service.
The current situation even allowed us to make an assumption about the imminent decline in the popularity of social networks. Naturally, we are not talking about any extinction. Social networks are not going anywhere, because even those 17 percent are a solid number of users, but the peak of popularity seems to be over.
