American electronics manufacturer Sonos has unveiled its Move smart speaker system.
The device, priced at $399, is now available for pre-order worldwide. Official sales will begin on September 24, 2019.
The Move is battery operated and can hold a charge for up to 10 hours. First Sonos device in the portable speaker segment is equipped with a handle for easy carrying, which allows you to take the speaker with you from home. The company has already called the device "the beginning of a new era in which brilliant sound not only fills your home, but also extends into every part of your day." According to Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos, the device provides users with "a new level of freedom of choice."
Sonos Move weighs around 3kg and comes with a USB-C port for easy and convenient charging. This is the brand's first product with Bluetooth audio streaming, allowing you to play music from your phone or tablet on the go. In terms of design, the device is a smooth black oval that is resistant to moisture, dirt and dust, as well as UV radiation, extreme temperatures and drops. Move also has the ability to adjust and balance the sound according to the environment in which it is located.
The speaker system supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and has a "suspend" function that automatically turns off the device when you're done using it and saves the battery for up to five days.
At home, Sonos Move can run on a charging base, handling requests through voice assistants, delivering news, playing music and controlling various smart home devices. As part of the Sonos platform, the speaker provides connectivity to over 100 streaming services—music, audiobooks, podcasts, and more—controlled through the Sonos app, AirPlay 2, or directly from music services.
At the same time, Sonos has announced some interesting products in addition to the Move that are worth mentioning.
The Sonos One SL

According to the company, the One SL delivers “rich, space-filling sound” and does not have built-in microphones. There is also no support for voice assistants. The speaker lets you listen to over 100 streaming services controlled by the Sonos app, which replaces Play:1 and will be available starting September 12 for $179.
The Sonos Port

The Port is a device for connecting stereo and AV equipment, and is the successor to the original Sonos Connect. Users will be able to stream music, podcasts, audio books and internet radio to external audio equipment. Thanks to the line input option, it is possible to connect vinyl, CD and other audio sources. The Port will be available in limited quantities starting September 2020 and will be available to order worldwide in January 2020 for $399.
